Who Can Join? Science Olympiad is open to Chinook students who are excited about science, engineering, problem-solving, or learning something new. Students do not need to be experts in science to participate. Curiosity and a willingness to learn are the most important qualifications!
Science Olympiad is a hands-on STEM competition where students work together to explore a wide range of science and engineering topics. Team members will learn, experiment, problem-solve, build, and prepare for competitive events while developing skills in teamwork, communication, and scientific thinking.
Students will have opportunities to explore areas of science they may not encounter in their regular classes and discover how science and engineering can be applied to real-world challenges.
What Students Will Do
• Explore biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and engineering
• Conduct experiments and investigate scientific questions
• Design, build, and test structures and devices
• Solve hands-on science and engineering challenges
• Research topics and prepare for competition events
• Work collaboratively as a team
• Develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
• Prepare for Science Olympiad competitions
